Garlic Sauce:

1 can Coconut Milk

2 cloves Garlic

1 tbsp Flour

Salt/Pepper

Burgers:

1 small Onion

1 clove garlic

500g Ground Beef

1 tbsp Onion Powder

1 tbsp Chili Flakes

1 tbsp Paprika

Salt and Pepper

1 Egg

1/3 cup Flour

1 tsp Avocado Oil

4 Portobello Mushrooms

4 Roasted Red Peppers

3 tbsp Soy Sauce or Coconut Aminos

1 cup Spinach

4 Burger Buns

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 can of coconut milk, 2 cloves of minced garlic, salt, and pepper and simmer for 10 minutes. Add 1 tbsp of flour and mix thoroughly. This will thicken the sauce! Remove from heat and place in the fridge for 1 hour.

  2. Lightly fry 1 small chopped onion in 1 tsp of avocado oil on medium heat for 5 minutes. Add 1 minced clove of garlic and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Stirring often to prevent the garlic from burning.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine 500 g of ground beef, 1 tbsp of onion powder, 1 tbsp of chili flakes, 1 tbsp of paprika, salt and pepper, 1 egg, and the onion and garlic mixture. Once fully mixed, add 1/3 cup of flour and mix again.

  4. Form burger patties by using 1/4 cup of ground beef mixture, pressing the mixture together into a ball, and flattening.

  5. You can either cook the burgers on the barbeque, in the oven, or in a frying pan. I used a cast iron pan on the stovetop and heated the pan on medium. Once the pan is hot, place the burgers in the pan and cook for 5-10 minutes on each side.

  6. While the burgers are cooking, place 4 portobello mushroom in a small frying pan with 3 tbsp of soy sauce or coconut aminos on medium-low heat. Cover the pan and cook for 5-8 minutes.

  7. Spread the garlic sauce on both buns, top with a burger patty, spinach, roasted red pepper, and portobello mushroom.
