Cranberry Basil Vodka Soda

This drink is great for the holidays but really is perfect year-round. It super light and refreshing and it’s not too sweet. I personally don’t like super sweet things, especially when it comes to drinks, which is why this drink is going to be my new go-to. If you’re making a lot of drinks or plan on drinking them over the span of a few days, I recommend making extra cranberry juice and then leaving it in the fridge.

I start by filling a small saucepan with 2 cups of water, 1 cup of fresh cranberries, and one and a half tablespoons of stevia. You could also use white sugar, agave, or honey. I’ll cover the saucepan and simmer on low-medium for 12-15 minutes. Once the juice is finished, transfer it to a glass or a jug with 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh basil and place it in the fridge to cool off.

Pour 1 ounce of your vodka of choice in a glass with ice. I use Humpback Vodka from Pacific Rim Distilling. (www.pacificrimdistilling.ca)It’s a Canadian made craft distillery based out of Ucluelet, British Columbia and owned by my brother. It’s seriously so smooth and I’m not just saying that. It won silver at the Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition. If I don’t have any on hand, I also like using Titos Vodka.

Pour half of the juice into the glass and fill the rest of the glass with soda water. Garnish with fresh cranberries and basil and serve.
